update

Coming in 2008!
  1. Research is currently underway to norm and validate the AAPI in the following languages: Arabic, Creole, Japanese, and Korean. For more information on participating in the norming and validation studies, contact Bob Schramm at fdr@nurturingparenting.com.
  2. Beginning March 1, 2008, Family Development Resources will be offering a report service to agencies with an AAPI on line account. Agencies can contract with FDR for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
January 2008 Upgrades

The Parenting Profile for the Spanish AAPI is now presented in Spanish. Prior to this upgrade, the Spanish Parenting Profile was presented in English.

  • The Spanish version of the AAPI presents the item response set in the identical format as the English version: SA, A, D, SD, U. Placing the U (uncertain) as the fifth selection encourages individuals to commit to agreeing or disagreeing with the items. Consequently, the data indicate a more accurate reflection of a respondent's beliefs.
  • When using the manual data entry format for item responses, item values reflect this upgraded format. When entering data, take note that SA=1, A=2, D=4, SD=5, and U=3.

AAPI Guidebook updated. Beginning January 5, 2008, an updated Guidebook will be available for the AAPI website. A Table of Contents will make the Guidebook more user friendly.

AAPI Quick Guide. Beginning January 5, 2008, a new AAPI Quick Guide will be available to help navigate the web site. The Quick Guide will be available under the Help tab located on the upper bar. The Quick Guide is designed to help users enter data, download profiles, make edits and corrections to data entered and how to export data.

November 2007 Upgrades

An employment question has been added to the demographic form on both the English and Spanish versions. Research studies consistently site unemployment, along with other variables appearing in combination as a contributing risk factor.
